Farmworker Association of Florida Grant Writer

The Grant Writer position primary responsibilities include:

  • - Write proposals to private foundations and government sources to secure resources for the organization.
  • - Write reports to funding sources to report work performed during the grant period.
  • - Keep up with all grant and report deadlines.
  • - Build and maintain relationships with funders.
  • - Research new funders.
  • - Develop new projects and budgets with other staff members.
  • - Work with the Financial Officer and Administrator on budgets, expenditures/payments, and reporting.
  • - Explore possibilities for joint proposals with allies and partners.
  • - Communicate with other staff members about their work and their communities.
  • - Monitor advancement on grant deliverables.
  • - Stay informed about issues impacting farmworker communities.
  • - Keep grants management list updated.
  • - Participate in periodic administrative team meetings.
  • Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will possess all or most of the following skills:

  • - Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management, marketing, business, or other related field

  • - 3-5 years’ experience writing grants for a non-profit organization

  • - Strong written and oral communication skills with excellent interpersonal skills

  • - Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other basic technology skills

  • - Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

  • - Ability to work flexible schedule

  • - Ability to travel to different parts of the state, and occasionally nationally for meetings

  • - Keen interest in and commitment to social, economic, and environmental justice

  • - Knowledge of farmworker & immigrants’ rights issues a plus

  • - Experience working in a grassroots, community, or labor organizing organization a plus
